Calculated with the Umm al-Qura, Makkah method, the convention most mosques in Saudi Arabia follow. The same calculation runs on your device in the Bustandeen app.
ʿAṣr is shown for both schools: standard (Shāfiʿī, Mālikī, Ḥanbalī), when a shadow equals the object's length, and Ḥanafī, when it is twice the length. Follow your local mosque; the app lets you choose either.

- How are these prayer times calculated?
- Prayer times are computed from the city's exact coordinates using standard astronomical formulas for sun position — the same on-device calculation the Bustandeen app uses, with no third-party prayer-time API involved.
- Do these times account for daylight saving or local timezone changes?
- Yes — times are shown in the city's own local time. For guaranteed live accuracy on any date, open the app's prayer-time tracker, which recalculates on your device.
- What calculation method and Asr convention are used?
- Each city uses the method most mosques in its country follow (for example the Karachi method in Bangladesh and Pakistan, Umm al-Qura in Saudi Arabia), and ʿAṣr is shown for both the standard and the Ḥanafī school. In the app you can pick any of 12 methods and either school.
