Calculated with the Moonsighting Committee method, the convention most mosques in United Kingdom follow. The same calculation runs on your device in the Bustandeen app.

ʿAṣr is shown for both schools: standard (Shāfiʿī, Mālikī, Ḥanbalī), when a shadow equals the object's length, and Ḥanafī, when it is twice the length. Follow your local mosque; the app lets you choose either.

Common questions

How are these prayer times calculated?
Prayer times are computed from the city's exact coordinates using standard astronomical formulas for sun position — the same on-device calculation the Bustandeen app uses, with no third-party prayer-time API involved.
Do these times account for daylight saving or local timezone changes?
Yes — times are shown in the city's own local time. For guaranteed live accuracy on any date, open the app's prayer-time tracker, which recalculates on your device.
What calculation method and Asr convention are used?
Each city uses the method most mosques in its country follow (for example the Karachi method in Bangladesh and Pakistan, Umm al-Qura in Saudi Arabia), and ʿAṣr is shown for both the standard and the Ḥanafī school. In the app you can pick any of 12 methods and either school.
